Nurse: Laura Lee

How lucky are we! Between the Christmas -New Year 2018 break, we had a qualified, experienced Veterinary Nurse contact us enquiring about any positions available.

Laura Lee completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Box Hill TAFE.  During these studies she did a placement at the Casey & Cranbourne Veterinary Hospitals which gave her great exposure.  To her credit, while being a high achiever in her nursing course, Laura was awarded the “Animal Science Study Tour Scholarship”.

This meant she travelled to the U.K. to attend the Fitzpatrick Referral Hospital.  You may have noticed Noel Fitzpatrick on a TV series known as “Supervet”.  They attend to extraordinary cases that most clinics would not attempt. They try to give every animal the opportunity of a better life even if the odds are against it.  Laura also paid a visit to Rossdale’s of Newmarket in the U.K. which is an equine referral centre, with a staff of over 150.  Clinics of this size are not seen in Australia.

Laura’s animal career began in a pet shop for 7 years.  Here she learnt about animal care, preventative flea & worm medications and communicating with customers regarding the best animal care. After finding her passion, Laura then began at an inner Melbourne Vet clinic.  It was here that she studied and was a valued member of the team.  She monitored patient anaesthetics & recovery, ran blood profiles and was heavily involved in the daily tasks of the clinic.

Travelling was becoming too draining so it was time for Laura to make the move. Working and living on the same side of town is a little easier.

In her down time, as a new home owner, Laura is enjoying renovating with her partner. Luckily, he is great on the tools, while Laura has become the Picasso painter of the duo!

Having Laura on our team adds to our experience and what we can offer our patients.  She is quickly becoming an integral part of our group with an outgoing personality and always a positive attitude.  Laura is available on a permanent basis at our Greensborough Veterinary Hospital.
